SSE

You’re busy and you’re now also required to drive your school’s School Self Evaluation(SSE). You need to get input on topics such as numeracy, literacy, spelling and music from parents and/or teachers and/or pupils. And to accomplish all this you need to use tools such as paper-based questionnaires, online surveys and focus groups.

But this additional need is coming at a time when your resources are stretched thin. You have limited time. And you might not have all the in-house skills required – questionnaire design, statistical analysis, focus group facilitation, online survey design, the list goes on…

So you may be able to take care of SSE under your own steam but it could be a real stretch, stressful, and difficult to juggle along with all your other responsibilities.

But it doesn’t have to be this way. Imagine if it could be painless and easy! Well it can be. I can take care of it for you. To help you with your SSE needs I offer a range of services that you can pick from in an à la carte manner.

For a paper-based questionnaire or online surveys these services include:

  • If you’re a DIYer I can review your questionnaire or online survey before you deploy it.
  • Alternatively – I can design your questionnaire or online survey. You can paint me a few broad strokes and I can take it from there. Of course you’ll be in the review loop!
  • Help you maximise the response rate so that the results are as representative as possible
  • Gather together (collate) the results into a spreadsheet
  • Analyse the results
  • Interpret the results
  • Generate a report
  • Provide recommendations

If you decide to use a focus group I can:

  • Ensure the questions are perfect
  • Facilitate the focus group
  • Transcribe the results
  • Analyse the results
  • Interpret the results
  • Generate a report
  • Provide recommendations

Here is what some principals have to say:

As Principal of Gaelscoil Osraí, one of the country’s biggest Irish language primary schools, we had administered a survey of parents and senior pupils as part of our research into literacy approaches in our school. Brendan and SurveyGuru took our questionnaires, analysed them in detail and presented me and our Board of Management and staff with a comprehensive report on its findings quickly and in full consultation with us. I would highly recommend their services and will use them again in the future.” Seán Ó hArgáin, Gaelscoil Osraí, Kilkenny

Following on from the DES Guidelines for Primary Schools re. School Self Evaluation we engaged Brendan Cullen of SurveyGuru to conduct, evaluate and analyse a Literacy Survey which involved pupils, parents and staff. The professional approach, the advice given, the regular contact re. progress in the survey, the analytical detail and the clear worthwhile results have been so beneficial to the school community. During the collation we were kept up to date with trends and indicators in our results. The graphs and pie charts are useful in our School Improvement Plan, our DEIS Plan and in our School Self Evaluation, both as a starting point, as a reference and they can also be used to decide targets in Literacy. Parents engaged fully with the survey and it is interesting to compare their comments in relation to Literacy with the teachers’ priorities and interventions. I have no hesitation in recommending SurveyGuru to other schools.” Moira Bennett, Scoil Chaitríona, Measc Ave., Coolock, Dublin 5
